MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and completing USDA Food Grant paperwork daily and monthly.

PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION (Qualification Standards):

  1. High school diploma required; Food Safety Manager's Certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
  2. Minimum of one year experience in food service or nutrition with infants and/or children.
  3. Ability to prepare large quantities of food, follow USDA standards, multitask, and possess a valid vehicle with insurance for shopping.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Prepare scheduled hot/cold foods for meals.
  2. Follow USDA menu specifications.
  3. Maintain proper portion controls.
  4. Manage daily inventory and replenish weekly.
  5. Ensure cleanliness of work areas and kitchen equipment.
  6. Store food safely and sanitize all dishes and surfaces.
  7. Follow safety and sanitation procedures per licensing standards.
  8. Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to dress code.
  9. Prepare grocery orders and ensure pantry stock.
  10. Complete USDA Food Grant reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must have acceptable eyesight and hearing, communicate effectively, and perform tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds, walking, standing, and reaching.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Work involves exposure to heat, grease/oils, cleaning solutions, and chemicals in a food service environment.
