Job summary

Right At School is seeking an Educator in Yakima, WA to support before- and after-school programs that blend enrichment with engaging, safe activities for children.

You’ll plan daily activities, supervise students, and partner with families and school staff to advance learning goals while maintaining a welcoming, healthy atmosphere. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience with children, ability to lift 25 lbs, and a passion for safe, active learning.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and engage in active learning.
• First Aid and CPR certifications preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate daily activities and curriculum aligned with program goals.
• Lead safe, structured before/after school activities and fitness.
• Maintain a nurturing environment and model positive guidance.
• Communicate with children, parents, staff, and school personnel.
• Ensure safety protocols and accurate attendance documentation.

Educator Pay Rate: $17-19/hr (based education and experience)

Location: Yakima, WA 98903

Schedule

• Before School Shift:6:15-8:45am Mon-Fri
• After School Shift: Monday 1:45-6pm, Tue-Fri 2:45pm-6pm, + Last Wed of every month 12:00-6pm.

You’ll Drive The Mission By

• Daily Program Meetings: Each day, review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.
• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring they align with the program’s objectives. Organize and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum; that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.
• Leading by Example: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children are enjoying themselves while also meeting program goals. You will achieve this by modeling positive guidance and effective classroom management.
• Prioritize Safety and Joy: Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols. These may include documenting attendance, incidents, and other observations.
• Communication: Effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Ideal Candidates Will Have The Following

• Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills
• Works well in a team environment
• At least 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age (preferred)
• Ability to lift 25lbs
• Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living
• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed

Washington Requirements

• Ability to meet state-specific requirements;
• First Aid and CPR-in-person
• Cleared tuberculosis test
• Food Handlers Card
• Proof of MMR
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Background Check with fingerprinting
