Job summary

YMCA of Upper Palmetto is seeking a Part Time Child Watch Associate to support the Child Watch program under supervision of the Branch Director/Associate Branch Director or Child Watch Supervisor. The role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment for children, with activities and events as needed.

Responsibilities include diaper changes, safety supervision, ADA accommodations, and maintaining positive communication with parents while safeguarding equipment and space.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Current Infant/Child CPR certification required.
• Knowledge and experience with the care and feeding of infants, toddlers and young children.
• Ability and willingness to change diapers while using techniques to avoid exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.
• Demonstrate maturity and strong interpersonal skills to manage behavior and diffuse volatile situations.
• Have a positive attitude and desire to support the YMCA mission.
• Physical ability to carry, sit, see, hear, speak, run, crouch, lift up to 25 lbs., and walk.

• Provide a safe, secure and fun environment for children in the Child Watch program.
• Nurture children through purposeful interaction to build belonging and relationships within families.
• Attend to each child’s needs, including diaper changes.
• Ensure safety of all children in the program and supervise activities.
• Follows procedures and ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• Maintain positive communication with parents.
• Keep program site and equipment in good condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Child Watch Associate is responsible for providing a safe, secure and fun environment to enhance the quality, growth and retention of the participants of the Child Watch program. The Child Watch Associate will assist with various activities such as special events, and other activities that occur on various occasions.

• Nurtures children through purposeful interaction dedicated to building belonging in children and relationships among children and within families.
• Tends to the needs of each child including diaper changes
• Responsible for the safety of all children in the program
• Supervises the children and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication
• with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
