Job summary

Midway University is seeking a part-time Assistant Cheer Coach to join the Cheer program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach to recruit talented student-athletes, provide skill instruction, support academics, and ensure compliance with university and NAIA policies.

The role involves coordinating practice sessions, managing travel and tournament preparations, and helping administer eligibility forms.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior coaching experience at high school or collegiate level is highly desirable.
  • The ability to coach and recruit skilled student-athletes is preferred.
  • This position will require a background and driving record check.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to University and NAIA policies and procedures.
  • Provide help administering the cheer program, including recruiting, budgeting, travel and tournament preparations.
  • Assist the Head Coach and administration to ensure that all team members have completed all the required eligibility forms prior to participating.
  • Coordinate and evaluate as-needed coaching/training sessions, ensuring effective principles, techniques, strategies, and methods to achieve sport proficiency; observe student-athletes during practice to determine opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality with office and team related issues.
  • Assist in driving vans to and from events.
