Job summary

Horses Help is seeking a Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) in Cave Creek, AZ to design and lead adaptive riding lessons for riders with diverse needs. You will work with staff, volunteers, and families to set goals, monitor progress, and ensure safety for both participants and horses.

The CTRI will develop individualized plans, maintain records, and coordinate with program staff to uphold PATH standards and the organization’s mission of compassionate equine-assisted experiences.

Qualifications

• Current PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Supervising Instructor, or Mentor certification.
• Ability to maintain PATH Intl. certification and continual education requirements.
• First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in adaptive riding instruction for diverse disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver safe, effective adaptive riding lessons for individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and families to support participant goals and welfare.
• Develop individualized lesson plans aligned with participant goals and program documentation standards.
• Maintain session objectives, progress notes, and end-of-session summaries; submit documentation timeliness.
• Maintain equipment and facilities to ensure safety and program quality.
• Monitor equine behavior, select appropriate horses, and assist with horse training/exercise programs.
• Provide volunteers with guidance on safe handling and session protocols.
• Uphold PATH accreditation standards and participate in organizational commitments.
