Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a part-time position. The role supports safe and efficient surgical procedures in the operating room and requires CST certification within 12 months of hire.

You will prepare the operating room, pass instruments to the surgeon, help position patients, and handle specimens as needed. Minimum qualifications include an accredited program graduate and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepares the operating suite with drapes, instruments, medications, solutions, implants and supplies; ensures equipment readiness.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to the physician during surgery and tracks instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory if required.
