Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking an Adjunct Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) Instructor to deliver high-quality classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction to students preparing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and enter the commercial transportation industry.

You will provide instruction in safety, inspections, cargo handling, and driving skills while adhering to TCSG curriculum standards and FMCSA requirements.

Qualifications

• Documented driver/trainer experience
• Post-secondary teaching experience
• Distance education teaching/learning experience

Responsibilities

• Provide effective classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction in CDL operations
• Instruct students on vehicle inspection, basic systems, and safe operating procedures
• Teach defensive driving, trip planning, cargo handling, and CDL competencies
• Demonstrate and evaluate driving maneuvers: backing, turns, shifting, braking, and lane positioning
• Prepare students for CDL knowledge and skills testing
• Develop instructional materials aligned with TCSG curriculum and regulatory requirements
• Provide guidance compliant with FMCSA and Georgia DDS CDL requirements
• Maintain attendance, progress, and grading records and ensure safety during training

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
