Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) Instructor to provide classroom, range, and behind‑the‑wheel instruction to CDL‑bound students.

The position requires a High School diploma, a valid Class A CDL, at least 3 years of verifiable truck driving, and the ability to teach morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend classes within a multi-county service area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of recent, verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Provide effective classroom, range, and behind-the-wheel instruction in Commercial Truck Driving/CDL operations.
• Teach students the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary for safe operation of commercial motor vehicles.
• Provide instruction in vehicle inspection, basic vehicle systems, safe operating procedures, defensive driving, trip planning, cargo handling, and other applicable CDL competencies.
• Demonstrate and evaluate proper vehicle control and driving maneuvers.
• Prepare students for successful completion of CDL knowledge and skills testing.
• Develop instructional materials per TCSG curriculum standards and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure instruction aligns with FMCSA and Georgia DDS CDL requirements.
• Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records.
• Maintain a safe and professional training environment.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and report safety concerns.
• Supervise students during range and behind‑the‑wheel activities.
