Job summary

Preble Shawnee Local School District is seeking a part-time Substitute Bus/Van Driver to transport students safely on scheduled routes in accordance with district policies.

Responsibilities include pre-trip and post-trip inspections, operating a bus/van, ensuring safety equipment is functional, maintaining records, and supporting transportation for students with IEPs as needed. Regular attendance and professional conduct are required.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexible hours and ability to work with students daily.
• Self-directed and able to follow directions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Physical stamina and good attendance.
• Team player.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Hold a CDL with School Bus Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe transportation of students per district policies.
• Operate a school bus or van on scheduled routes and field trips.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Check safety devices and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Operate safety and assistive equipment and conduct drills.
• Prepare reports, route maps, schedules, and incident reports.
• Provide transportation for special needs students as needed.
• Maintain passenger behavior and report violations.
• Notify supervisor of hazards and delays.
• Assist with other routes as requested.
