Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington is seeking a part-time IMU Dining team member with bartending knowledge to deliver high-quality guest service. You will assist with bar setup, ensure safety, and help with beverages and events on campus in Bloomington.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, some bartending experience, and the ability to obtain an Alcohol Serving Permit. Candidates must be 21 or older and able to work a flexible schedule.

IMU DINING (BA-DIMU-IUBLA)

Through meticulous planning and coordination, constant innovation, and a keen attention to detail, IU Catering staff use fresh, seasonal ingredients to deliver spectacular client-driven culinary experiences on campus and throughout Bloomington, from piping hot coffee and in-house baked pastries for a meeting of 20, to a sumptuous 5-course meal and elegant custom cake for a wedding of 200.

Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Provides high quality guest service while enforcing policies and safety.
  • Ensures guests have a positive, memorable experience.
  • Assists with bar set-up/close-down plans including cash close-out.
  • Maintains standards ensuring consistent presentation, aesthetics of setting, and quality of beverage service.
  • Attends beer, wine, and spirits trainings.
  • Assists with catering events.
EDUCATION
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Some bartending experience

This position involves remaining stationery for extended periods of time, also able to move up to 40 pounds. Effective communication skills are necessary. The role requires the ability to detect items in proximity as well as far away, discern between colors, detect objects in peripheral space of self, discern items in detail, and to have good depth perception. This role also will work indoors around both hot and cold temperatures and loud noises. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Bloomington, Indiana

$13.25 per hour

  • Minimum of 10 hours per week, Monday - Sunday.
  • Maximum 29 hours per week.
  • Flexible work schedule with ability to work late hours.
  • Management reserves the right to adjust work hours to accommodate special meals and events.
