Position Summary

The Cashier's primary responsibility is customer acknowledgment. As the team member with the most customer contact, you are accountable for maintaining a positive company image through your attitude, appearance, and concern for store profitability. Uphold Great Lakes Ace Hardware's Mission, Vision, and Core Values daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Register Operations: Operate cash register, scan merchandise, engage customers, process refunds, use loss prevention techniques, follow policies, promote Ace Rewards, and handle phone calls.
• Sales Floor: Greet customers, assist with merchandise questions, help locate items, stock displays, assist with color matching and special orders, and help with store cleanup.
• Additional duties include customer service in store services, following maintenance checklists, referring complaints, and working flexible hours including weekends.

Relationships

Communicate professionally with customers and store staff.

Technology

Use of computer systems including Epicor.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and solve problems.

Physical Demands

Regular walking, handling objects, talking, hearing, and occasional sitting, stooping, or crouching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Work Environment

Moderate noise, potential exposure to weather and mechanical parts. Reasonable accommodations provided.

Compensation

$12.48 per hour.
