Brief Description

Caregivers are the main support providers to our residents. They offer emotional support, assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as waking, toileting, feeding, safety, and social activities. Caregivers report to the Wellness Coordinator and are part of the Resident Care Team. This role is challenging yet rewarding, with residents appreciating the assistance provided.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ADLs: waking, toileting, feeding, safety, light cleaning, oral care, and bathing.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls.
• Assist during mealtimes, activities, or as needed.
• Provide emotional support, respecting residents with dignity and maintaining a positive attitude.
• Promote safety and wellbeing using procedures, safety equipment, and awareness.
• Assist with janitorial and housekeeping tasks as needed.
• Participate in shift change meetings to communicate resident status or needs.
• Report changes in behaviors or medical conditions to leadership.
• Follow directions from supervisors regarding care and emergencies.
• Communicate with outside agencies like hospice and home health.
• Complete required documentation such as care summaries and logs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Wellness Coordinator and leadership.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• In North Carolina, CNA certification required.
• Previous caregiving experience preferred.
• Experience with elderly or memory-impaired adults preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Use of manual dexterity, auditory, visual, and gross motor skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals occasionally.
• Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, and pull.
• Lift/carry up to 50 pounds, with possible pressure up to 80 pounds during transfers.
• Perform repetitive movements and constant standing/walking.
