Job summary

Brightpoint Community College in the Richmond area is seeking a part-time High School Career and College Navigator to support students at two Chesterfield County high schools. You will guide students through career exploration, college applications, FAFSA, resumes, and scheduling, both in person and remotely.

You will present at school events, coordinate open houses, and act as a Brightpoint New Student Navigator for admitted students, assisting with admissions and financial aid steps.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills required.
• Ability to use technology to support department goals and objectives.
• Must be able to work at assigned high schools within Brightpoint’s service region, at campus locations, and virtually from home.
• Occasional travel within the college’s service region may be needed.
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
• Criminal background check required.
• Knowledge of database management and career coaching/college admissions best practices.
• Prior experience with secondary school counseling, career planning, or higher education counseling/recruiting.

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually and in small groups to determine career interests.
• Assist students with college applications, FAFSA, resumes, and admissions steps.
• Present career-related information in classrooms and at school events.
• Act as Brightpoint New Student Navigator for admitted students and help with enrollment steps.
• Organize related school activities and participate in college programs and events.
