Performs Adult Cardiac or Vascular Ultrasound procedures in order to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent AND One year of Sonography experience AND Must Obtain One of the Appropriate Certifications within Two years of Hire; OR Recent Graduate of a Cardiac Ultrasound Program AND Must obtain One of the Appropriate Certifications within One year of Hire.
2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Appropriate Certification Includes: Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS).

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. If certified in Cardiac: Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures in Cardiac Graphics including, but not limited to echocardiograms, TEE’s, TTE’s, stress echo, structure heart program imaging, etc.
2. If certified in Vascular: Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures in Vascular Laboratories including, but limited to upper/lower venous duplexes, arterial duplexes, dialysis graphs, venous insufficiencies, pulse volume recordings, ankle brachial index, etc.
3. Performs proper billing of procedures and prioritizes patient scheduling.
4. Coordinates and prioritizes patient scheduling in order to ensure procedure completion in a timely fashion.
5. Prior to testing, obtains information for specific procedures to be performed, answers pertinent questions to patients concerning procedures and is courteous to patients and their families 100% of the time.
6. Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.
7. Notifies appropriate medical staff if images appear to variate from normal images as appropriate.
8. Documents procedure performed within patient chart to inform the physician that the test has been completed.
9. Calculates and measures cardiovascular structures from procedure data in order to aid the physician in interpreting results and achieving a diagnosis.
10. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, procedure rooms, and work areas of the Cardiac Graphics and Vascular Laboratories.
11. Completes accurate documentation to ensure proper billing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
3. Hearing (aid permitted) – Must be able to function without use of lip reading.
4. Visual acuity (corrected) – Keen for both distant and near objects/individuals (i.e. ability to read small print).
