Job Overview

City Cruises is seeking a Captain for our marine operations in Chicago, IL.

About You

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Cruises' RESPECT Service System.

The Opportunity

The Captain ensures guest satisfaction, safety, and high service standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage onboard operations and represent the company.
  2. Ensure safe and efficient vessel navigation and operation in all weather conditions.
  3. Maintain proper crew staffing and conduct passenger counts.
  4. Train crew members and ensure compliance with US Coast Guard, federal, and state laws, as well as company policies.
  5. Report accidents or incidents promptly and accurately.
  6. Maintain vessel appearance and cleanliness.
  7. Perform preventative maintenance and inspect engine room periodically.
  8. Document maintenance activities and deficiencies.
  9. Conduct security and safety drills as required.
  10. Lead daily job briefings and ensure crew adherence to policies.
  11. Comply with Coast Guard and other regulations, and follow emergency procedures.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 100-TON Master Inland or higher license.
  2. TWIC, First Aid/CPR certifications.
  3. Marine Radio Operator Permit.
  4. Detail-oriented with strong situational awareness.
  5. Excellent radar and navigation skills.
  6. Focus on safety and teamwork.
  7. Effective communication skills.
  8. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
