Job summary

College of Southern Nevada is seeking a Part-Time Senator for the Henderson Campus ASCSN FY2027 to promote student life and initiatives at extension sites, including program administration and student surveys. You will serve on committees, oversee by-laws, manage funding items, and deliver monthly class presentations while committing to 12 hours per week plus potential event work; trainings are required.

Active CSN enrollment (6+ credits) with GPA requirements and in-person training dates

Qualifications

• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester at the College of Southern Nevada.
• Maintain a semester GPA of 2.25 or higher each semester.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher overall.

Responsibilities

• Serve on at least one ASCSN Standing Committee and two ASCSN Ad-hoc Committees.
• Have authority to approve By-Law legislation proposed by the ASCSN By-law and Constitution Committee, with approval by a two-thirds majority.
• Have authority to pass financial funding items with a simple majority vote.
• Have authority to override a presidential veto with two-thirds majority.
• Commit to at least 12 hours each week beyond committee meetings.
• May work up to one-third of weekly hours during ASCSN events.
• Deliver a brief presentation during one class each month.
• Presentation timing determined by the professor or instructor.
• May not present to classes already visited or where enrolled.
• Dedicate two working hours weekly to promote ASCSN activities.
• Obtain approval from an ASCSN Executive Board member before committing.
• Spend remaining hours on committee assignments.
• Do not represent clubs/organizations for attendance at meetings.
• Address nonfeasance with recommended sanctions or referrals.
• Report findings to the Senate after Grievance Committee/Judicial Board meeting.
• Make sanctions recommendations with two-thirds majority.
• Be removed from the Senate after three unexcused absences.
