Job summary

Northwest Shoals Community College seeks a part-time Campus Police Officer to protect faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Duties include campus patrols, investigations, traffic and parking supervision, and incident reporting.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a preferred Associate Degree, and a minimum of three years' experience. APOSTC certification and Alabama driver’s license are required. The role is posted at $25.00 per hour with no benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associate Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
• Minimum of three years of equivalent work experience is required.
• Current Alabama driver's license is required.
• APOSTC certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide foot and vehicular patrol of the campus.
• Respond to and investigate incidents on campus, including motor vehicle accidents and college violations.
• Conduct misdemeanor and felony investigations, interviewing victims, suspects, and offenders, collecting evidence, and preparing case files.
• Enforce criminal and traffic laws, make arrests, and issue summons as required.
• Complete detailed incident reports and maintain records.
• Monitor authorized student activities for policy adherence.
• Lock and unlock offices and buildings as required.
• Transport mail and bank deposits as requested.
• Detect and report hazardous conditions such as potholes or outages.
• Complete 12 hours of continuing education annually as required by APOSTC.
• Work various shifts as needed.
• Assist Chief of Police with other duties.

Skills
