Job summary

A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a part-time, non-exempt Campus Security/Safety Officer on the San Luis Obispo, California campus.

The CSO will support campus safety on assigned shifts, monitor cameras, assist students, faculty and staff, and help manage access control and incident reporting. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous security or related experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Work independently with limited supervision.
• Interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, patients and visitors.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Two-way radio use is required.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to take initiative and responsibility.
• Experience with door access and surveillance systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor campus safety during assigned shifts and support the 24-hour team.
• Provide customer service to students, faculty and staff.
• Assist in creating new ID badges and updating access in the system.
• Manage lost-and-found items and inventory.
• Lock/unlock doors daily per procedures.
• Assist in patrols as needed and report hazards.
• Conduct confidential investigations and document it in reports.
• Question visitors to verify legitimate presence on campus.
• Respond to emergency calls promptly.
• Maintain RMS and distribute incident reports.
• Maintain registration files for vehicles and ensure parking policy compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
