Job summary

University School of Milwaukee is seeking a part-time Safety Officer for daytime shifts in Milwaukee. The role requires a former law enforcement background with HR-218 LEOSA certification and strong de-escalation and crisis-management abilities.

You will monitor campus access, respond to incidents, coordinate with law enforcement, and support student supervision while upholding high safety standards across the USM community.

Qualifications

• Must possess HR-218 LEOSA certification.
• Must be a former law enforcement officer.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment tests including physical agility, drug, and psychological evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill duties to the School’s safety plan and strategic goals for student, staff, and community safety.
• Maintain an orderly post while fostering a positive work environment.
• Monitor and control visitor access to campus facilities.
• Support the safety of the USM community.
• Respond to crises and coordinate with internal/external personnel for standardized incident response.
• Attend training programs to support safety and accident prevention.
• Monitor alarms, cameras, and security equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Collaborate with local/state law enforcement and safety agencies.
• Assist administration in student supervision.
• Manage resources efficiently and work with the USM community.
