Job summary

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a Part-time Bus Operator. Under direct supervision, you will operate public transit buses, transport passengers, provide customer service, and perform safety inspections of bus equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time operation.

This position is part-time (less than 40 hours per week) with a starting rate of $27.58 per hour and a top rate of $33.47 per hour after 5+ years.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle operations and on-bus technology.
• Knowledge of state and local traffic laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of vehicle safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Collects and counts fares, and transports passengers on public transit buses.
• Provides schedule, route, and fare information to passengers seeking assistance.
• Operates wheelchair ramp and assists passengers with disabilities in boarding, riding, and alighting safely.
• Maintains an acceptable driving record and complies with state/local regulations and Metro policies.
• Reports hazards and follows safety rules; supports safe, timely bus operations.
