Job summary

St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School in Austin, TX is seeking transportation and support bus drivers for part-time work.

You will transport students and staff to local and out-of-town events, ensuring vehicles are safe and prepared, and coordinating with the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Operations, Transportation and Asset Management. Requirements include a valid CDL Class B with P endorsement, at least one year of bus operation experience, and being 25 or older for insurance.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B with P endorsement is required.
• At least one verifiable year of bus/vehicle operation experience is required.
• Must be 25+ years old for insurance purposes and able to pass background check and drug test.
• Ability to interact professionally with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Drive students and staff to local and out-of-town events (athletic events, retreats, field trips).
• Routes include Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio; local trips min 4 hours.
• Schedule typically at least two weeks prior to events.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report safety issues promptly.
• Fuel buses and assist with routine vehicle prep.
• Assist with routine transportation and fleet-related tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

St. Michael's Prep is seeking transportation and support bus drivers to transport students to both local and out-of-town-events. This is a part-time non-exempt hourly position. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Operations, Transportation and Asset Management and works with the other SMP drivers to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, properly prepared, and available for scheduled transportation needs.

Job Details

• Drive students & staff to both local and out-of-town events. These events include but are not limited to: athletic events and competitions, retreats, and academic field trips as needed.
• Routes include trips to locations in and around Austin, and occasionally Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Local trips will be a minimum of four (4) hours.
• The driver's schedule will depend on the schedule of events, but is usually scheduled a minimum of two (2) weeks prior.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report safety, mechanical, or maintenance concerns.
• Fuel buses and assist with routine vehicle preparation before scheduled trips.
• Assist with routine transportation and fleet-related tasks.

Requirements

• Qualified candidates must have a valid CDL Class B with P endorsement.
• Candidates also must have at least one (1) verifiable year of experience operating a bus or comparable vehicle.
• Candidates must be at least 25 years old for insurance purposes and be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check (fingerprinting) and drug test.
• Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with students and staff.
