Bell Person/Porter

The hotel is currently looking for a Bell Person/Porter. The primary responsibility of the Bell Person is to provide our hotel guests with a positive first and last impression, as well as deliver exceptional service at every interaction. Key responsibilities include assisting guests with luggage, offering information about the hotel, making recommendations for local activities, shuttling guests, and ensuring each guest receives genuine, personalized, and thoughtful service.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Guest Services Manager and/or Supervisor, the Bell Person/Porter will:

  • Ensure the highest level of guest service by embracing SHG’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Greet all guests warmly with a genuine smile and provide thoughtful hospitality.
  • Escort guests to their rooms, overview hotel amenities, handle inquiries, and provide information about hotel and local attractions.
  • Adhere to brand standards effectively.
  • Respond promptly and politely to all requests.
  • Seek feedback from guests and take proactive actions or provide service recovery as needed.
  • Resolve guest concerns collaboratively with team members and implement necessary changes.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across departments.
  • Work safely and responsibly, considering personal, guest, and team member well-being.
  • Follow policies related to guest privacy and security.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating and assisting colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.

  • Ability to follow through on daily tasks, fostering teamwork and fun.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience; hotel experience is an asset.

  • Experience with property management software is an asset.
  • Passionate about exceeding guest expectations.
  • Computer skills and cashiering experience required; familiarity with systems like Maestro or Opera is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Physical activity involved, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Available to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
