The University of Pittsburgh Department of Music seeks a part-time instructor to give private lessons in upright and/or electric bass. The instructor will work with students of varying skill levels and be fluent in orchestral, jazz, and folk idioms.

The role includes introducing repertory across orchestral, chamber, band, and solo settings, and helping students prepare for public performances and juries where private lessons count toward degree requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in bass performance or equivalent professional experience.
• Previous teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide private bass lessons (upright and/or electric) to students of varying skill levels.
• Expose students to orchestral, chamber, jazz, and folk idioms through varied repertoire.
• Assist students in preparing for performances and juries; private lessons count toward major/minor or general education requirements.
