Job summary

BAM Labs NYC LLC is opening Friends In Common cafe in New York City and is seeking part-time Baristas who take pride in coffee quality and warm, attentive service. You will dial in espresso, prepare pour-over, and ensure recipes are followed to meet standards.

You are dependable, curious, and capable of staying calm under pressure while delivering a welcoming guest experience. This hands-on role includes POS use, opening/closing tasks, and a path to growth within the cafe community.

Qualifications

• Previous café, restaurant, or customer-service experience.
• Strong coffee knowledge and the ability to dial in espresso.
• Hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to help wherever needed.
• Clear communication and a genuine hospitality mindset.
• NYC Food Safety Handlers Card.

Responsibilities

• Coffee Preparation & Quality: dial in espresso, taste shots, adjust grind, and maintain standards.
• Prepare espresso drinks, pour-over, tea, and other beverages to recipes and sizes.
• Steam milk to order, keep equipment clean, and ensure presentation meets standards.
• Guest Service & Order Accuracy: use POS, record orders, and handle cash accurately.
• Build relationships with guests and maintain a welcoming café atmosphere.
• Health and Safety: follow sanitation protocols and keep work areas clean.
• Employment: support opening/closing, and assist team as needed.
