Job summary

Vista Grande High School is seeking a Band Assistant to support the band program under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal. The role focuses on leadership, mentoring, and coordinating activities that enhance student learning beyond the classroom.

The position involves district-wide responsibilities with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and communication with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s degree or higher is also listed in the qualifications.
• Requires valid Arizona State Teacher certificate and/or AIA Coaching Certificates and CPR/First Aid.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret curriculum materials and regulations.
• Ability to write reports and communicate with parents, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

• The Coach provides leadership and mentoring to students in band and supports development beyond the regular curriculum.
• Creates a safe environment where students can develop personal skills and teamwork.
• Represents the band program to staff, parents, and the community; collaborates with administration.
• Oversees equipment, facilities, and daily operations for the band program; attends coaching clinics and workshops.
