Job summary

Tops Markets is seeking a bakery clerk to join our neighborhood store in New York. You will assist with storing, preparing, and packaging bakery products, while maintaining shelves, cases, and displays and delivering attentive customer service.

Key tasks include following safety regulations, preparing specialty cakes, handling paperwork, and keeping a clean, organized workspace with proper inventory and supplies to minimize shrink.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow all regulations and Tops policies for bakery operations, safety, and sanitation.
• Maintain shelf/display conditions through cleaning, straightening, and rotation.
• Adhere to policy in processing, preparing, and packaging products.
• Take customer orders for cakes or other specialty items as needed.
• Complete paperwork related to Bakery Department.
• Maintain a clean as you go policy.
• Maintain adequate supplies and minimize shrink via proper handling.
• Minors may work in sales, packaging and limited production.

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Bakery clerk must possess reasonable knowledge in storing, preparing, and maintaining bakery products. Clerk is responsible for slicing, pricing, and packaging product, as well as maintaining shelves, cases, and displays. Clerks are also responsible for setting an example in providing attentive and courteous customer service

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Bakery operations, safety, and sanitation
• Maintain proper shelf/display conditions through cleaning, straightening, and rotating products
• Adhere to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product
• Take customer orders accurately for cakes or other specialty items as needed
• Complete all necessary paperwork relating to Bakery Department
• Maintain a Clean as you go policy
• Maintain adequate supplies
• Minimize shrink through proper handling and storing of product
• Minors may work in a sales capacity, packaging and limited production

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years of age and 18 years of age to perform certain functions/tasks

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
• Possess basic computer skills
• Possess strong communication skills
