Job summary

Allied Universal, based in Lexington, KY, is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer specializing in baggage screening. This role involves protecting campus facilities, screening people and items, and maintaining safety protocols in a dynamic education environment.

The position offers a flexible, part-time schedule with pay rate of $19.00 per hour. Candidates should have at least 1 year of security experience, be 18+ (21+ for armed roles), and pass background and drug screening where permitted.

Qualifications

• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Preferred ability to lift more than 20 pounds.
• X-ray screening experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or guests while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Screen persons, belongings, and/or authorized items entering designated campus facilities in accordance with established screening procedures.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, prohibited items, or policy concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and complete required documentation.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned facilities and surrounding areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
