POSITION PURPOSE
As an AVID tutor, you will work in person in assigned school(s) at least 2 days a week, with small groups of students for 30-45 minutes at a time. AVID tutors are trained in the AVID Tutorial Process to support students’ WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading) skill development. Additionally, the tutor works with small groups of AVID Elective students to strengthen academic skills, critical thinking, collaboration, organization, and student agency. The AVID tutor will support the AVID Coordinator and grades 6-8 students with the following:
You will become an employee of the school district and will be paid hourly (pay rates vary by district). You do not have to have a background in education because you will be supported by an AVID District and school-based Coordinator who will provide training, professional development, and support throughout the school year.

All AVID tutors will participate in professional learning and support in adherence to the AVID District Implementation Guidelines. Training is a maximum of 20 hours and will be conducted synchronously and/or asynchronously.
The exact dates and times for any learning will be shared once you have been hired and your tutor support plan is designed.
