Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Technologies for the Aviation Operations Technology program. The instructor will coordinate, plan, present, and evaluate classroom instruction at Southwest campuses, with day, evening, or weekend duties as needed.

Minimum qualifications include a regionally accredited Bachelor's Degree and FAA pilot certifications; roles may require teaching experience and familiarity with instructional design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • FAA pilot certifications and endorsements to meet departmental requirements under Part 141: FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate, Certified Flight Instructor, and Certified Flight Instructor (Instrument).
  • Three years of Flight Dispatcher experience under Part 121 or 5 years of PIC experience under Part 121.
  • Current Flight Dispatcher License.
  • Strong understanding of the Aviation Industry.
  • Knowledge of Teaching Methods & Instructional Design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers instruction on topics of the Professional Pilot Technology program.
  • Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' work, and provides progress feedback.
  • Develops curricula and instructional materials (syllabi, homework, handouts).
  • Maintains office hours for student advising and recruitment; assists with course-related student issues.
  • Maintains attendance records, grades, and FERPA-compliant documentation.
  • Attends faculty meetings and professional development activities.
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments through literature and conferences.
  • Participates in committees and community outreach; performs other duties as assigned.
