Job summary

The college seeks a part-time instructor to deliver Automotive Technician instruction via Blackboard in a lab setting, preparing students for careers in the field. You will lead classes, stay current with industry needs, and assess student learning to ensure effective outcomes.

Responsibilities include maintaining student records, referring students to support services, updating syllabi, and enforcing college regulations. Weekly office hours and collaboration with support staff are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Automotive, Diesel, Transportation, or related field (or degree plan to achieve Associate Degree within 3 years of hire).
• Two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in an automotive service technician or related position, with at least one year (2,000 hours) within the last 5 years.
• Current ASE Master Certified A1-A8 or G1-Maintenance and Light Repair, A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems, A4-Suspension and Steering, A5-Brakes.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for assigned classes.
• Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet workplace expectations.
• Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
• Create a classroom/lab environment respectful of diversity and multiculturalism.
• Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
• Identify students needing assistance and refer to Student Services; collaborate with Academic Support to help students adapt to the learning environment.
• Stay current on developments in the teaching field to address various learning styles and use the latest technology and delivery methods.
• Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
• Assist in enforcing college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
• Hold weekly office hours and perform other duties to meet needs of students, employers, and college.
