Job summary

29 Acres is a nonprofit organization that strengthens the lives of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Life Skills Coach supports clients with planned goals, recreational activities, Vocational opportunities and daily living skills in Cross Roads, TX.

Work hours include 9am-5pm and 5-10pm, Monday through Sunday. The role requires CPR/First Aid training and CPI or Safety Care, plus passing a background check and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Associate degree or 60 college hours (or junior in college).
• Required: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience with individuals with ASD or intellectual disabilities preferred.
• Must complete Company Training within 90 days: CPR, First Aid, and CPI or Safety Care.
• Must pass criminal background check and drug test.
• Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide life skills training to assist clients in planning activities, vocational training, daily life skills, budgeting, cooking, social and other programs.
• Assist clients with summer recreational activities (lake sports, swimming, rock climbing).
• Provide on-site job coaching and training as clients volunteer, acquire internships and become employed.
• Collect data, observe client behavior as directed based on client plans.
• Provide transportation and assistance with community events using company vehicles.
• Ensure safety and welfare (administer CPR/First Aid if necessary).
• Engage in ongoing professional development and collaborate with other professionals.
