Position Title: Part Time Asst/Assoc/Professor of Family Med/Internal Med

Department: DCOM CLINICAL MEDICINE

Position Category: Faculty

Job Description: The Part Time Asst/Assoc/Professor of Family Medicine/Internal Medicine will be directly responsible for teaching LMU-DCOM approved curriculum, clinical duties, and scholarly activity. The individual shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department.

Required Qualifications

D.O./M.D. degree and Board Certification in Family Medicine and OMM; and able to be licensed in Tennessee by the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination/Tennessee Medical State Board.

Preferred Qualifications

D.O. degree and able to be licensed in Tennessee by the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination; minimum of 5 years experience in clinical/academic medicine teaching and leadership. Academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience.

Responsibilities
  1. Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large.
  2. Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
  3. Establish curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction related to the medical education process.
  4. Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of courses and academic programs for LMU-DCOM.
  5. Promote a general atmosphere of respect for knowledge, thought, and inquiry within LMU-DCOM.
  6. Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence in teaching.
  7. Promote clinical service and demonstrate adequate standards of professional linguistic expression in writing and speech.
  8. Have on file an outline and list of the goals and objectives for each lecture.
  9. Carry out lectures, seminars, small group discussions, and/or clinical assignments effectively.
  10. Design and present a course and/or series of integrated lectures and/or small group discussions.
  11. Prepare examination questions and grade a course or portion of a course.
  12. Meet classes according to published schedule.
  13. Commit to working in a professional multicultural environment that fosters diversity.
  14. Provide service by attending scheduled faculty meetings and serving on appointed and/or elected committees as required.
  15. Work with the Assistant Dean of Clinical Medicine on curricular matters as needed.
  16. Serve as an active member of the department, working closely with the department vice chair to further the department and College mission and vision.
  17. Complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs.
  18. Provide clinical service/patient care and bedside teaching for students in the clinical setting.
  19. Serve as an example to learners and colleagues of appropriate professional behavior.
  20. Participate in clinic quality assurance and other service evaluation activities.
  21. Participate in scholarly activity.
  22. Serve as a mentor to medical and other students.
  23. Demonstrate and supervise students during clinical educational activities utilizing standardized patients and/or volunteer patients.
  24. Supervise students during authorized and approved patient care events including health fairs, sports physicals, or community outreach programs.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.
