Job summary

Hillsborough Community College is seeking Sustainability Interns to support the Office of Sustainability on a 10–15 hour weekly basis, collaborating with interns, staff and faculty to advance campus initiatives.

Candidates should be dependable, able to work independently, manage time, solve problems, and communicate with diverse stakeholders; duties include student engagement, data collection, and content creation, including newsletters and social media.

Qualifications

• Masters in sustainability, environmental science, public policy, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Student engagement - building student engagement activities, promoting zero-waste efforts, maintaining various gardening projects, field trips, event planning.
• Data collection - tracking and managing sustainability data, STARS reporting, research that guides future policy
• Establish and maintain communication - construct and maintain working relationships with various groups in the college (SGA, facilities, administration, students, faculty, other)
• Content creation - writing newsletter articles, social media content, manage, video editing

Job Summary

Sustainability associates are expected to spend approximately 10-15 hours per week working on sustainability initiatives, projects, or topics assigned by the Office of Sustainability. Collaboration with other interns, office staff, and faculty is required. Associates must be dependable, work well independently, manage time effectively, be able to problem solve, comfortable working outside in the heat, and communicate well with various stakeholders.
