Job summary

The Westfield Area YMCA is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher to join our team. You will work with the Head Teacher to implement planned activities and curriculum, promoting youth development, social responsibility and healthy living.

The ideal candidate is reliable, flexible with their schedule, and has experience with children ages 2.5 years old through kindergarten. Strong communication and a genuine interest in education are essential.

Qualifications

• CDA; or AA Degree in a related field; or HS degree and 1 year experience working with children.
• Strong communication skills required.
• Creativity, initiative and flexibility are essential.
• Experience working with children (2.5 years old - kindergarten) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting Teacher with daily classroom activities
• Ability to follow instructions and provide support
• Aiding in preparing materials for lessons
• Supervising and interacting with children
• Creating a nurturing and warm environment
