Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a part-time Retail Associate to support daily store operations, assist customers with a friendly attitude, and help organize merchandise from delivery to floor.

You will participate in opening/closing procedures, follow directives, maintain displays, handle stock, assist with ordering, and help train and supervise fellow associates while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks (walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record-keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, restocked bathrooms, swept/mopped floors, take out trash, and ensure areas are presentable.
• Other duties as assigned*.
