Job description

At Hot Topic, we’re passionate about a few things: music, pop culture, and creating the most amazing in-store experience for our customers and employees.

We’re on the search for a Part-Time Assistant Manager – Level 2 that will help lead the loudest store in the mall. You’ll support the Store Manager in achieving store objectives regarding sales targets, recruiting, and development. You’re Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker rolled into one; you can handle anything that comes your way while driving sales and building lifelong relationships with our customers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support your Store Manager in achieving the sales plan and/or comparable sales goals.
  • Help recruit, develop, and retain a passionate, collaborative team to run your store alongside you.
  • Create buzz and customer engagement through promotion of new products, use of social media platforms, and additional benefits such as BOPIS and curbside pickup.
  • Provide leadership to ensure operational excellence; balance operations, delegation/autonomy, and customer-first selling practices.
  • Monitor shrink/loss prevention, payroll hours, and associate schedules.
  • Collaborate with retail leadership and HQ partners on trends and customer feedback.
  • Analyze sales reports and use data to guide your strategy to meet sales targets.
  • Merchandise the store effectively, leveraging planograms and launching promotions on time.
  • Partner with your Store Manager to develop a high-performing, customer-focused team of loyal associates.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • At least 1-2 years of retail store management experience. Passion for music and pop culture is a plus!
  • Experience leading successful teams with skills in communication, recruiting, operations, and team development.
  • Strong skills in communication, time management, professionalism, and operations, with a drive to develop your team.
  • A high school diploma or GED; a degree is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing retail environment and handle unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to navigate the store, merchandise products using store equipment, and lift/move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
