Job description

We’re looking for music and pop culture fanatics to help create the best experience for our customers. As a Hot Topic Part-Time Assistant Manager – Level 1, you’ll be a significant part of our success by supporting the store leadership team in providing an exceptional customer experience, ensuring that fellow fans can access the merchandise they love. You’ll leverage your fandom knowledge to train new recruits and support daily operations and sales targets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Provide an engaging shopping experience that encourages customers to return, showcasing your product knowledge, customer service skills, and enthusiasm for fandoms.
2. Step in and lead when needed. Support the sales floor and assist the management team during their absence.
3. Store operations. Open and close the store as required, ensuring smooth daily operations.
4. Process transactions. Operate the register, facilitate sales, and promote additional benefits like BOPIS and curbside pickup, while accurately managing cash and communicating shortages or overages to the Store Manager.
5. Understand sales goals and KPIs. Be familiar with store sales plans, including UPT and ADT metrics.
6. Assist with visual merchandising. Help update planograms, store layouts, and merchandise displays.
7. Share trend insights. Communicate fashion and music trends to management and HQ partners.
8. Maintain store security. Collaborate with management to prevent theft and misuse of store resources.
9. Support store upkeep. Keep the stockroom organized and the store tidy.
10. Build a strong team. Help develop and motivate a passionate, collaborative team to run the store effectively.
11. Perform other duties. Assist with additional activities as assigned by your Store Leader.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

1. Retail experience. At least 1 year of retail store experience, especially if you love music and pop culture.
2. Key skills. Excellent communication, time management, professionalism, operational knowledge, and a drive to develop others.
3. Education. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
4. Physical ability. Capable of navigating the store, merchandise handling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
