Job summary

Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein, IL is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach across all levels of the athletic program. This part-time, stipend role reports to the Principal in collaboration with the Athletic Director and requires commitment to safety, policies, and program development.

You will help organize practices, manage communications with students and families, and supervise volunteers while upholding IHSA and school guidelines.

Qualifications

• Possess current ASEP, NFHS, or State of Illinois teaching or substitute-teaching certification.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, management, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate ability to lead, instruct, and supervise students, assistant coaches, and volunteers.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the athletic activity including technical skills, competitive strategies, and rules of play.
• Demonstrate ability to prioritize multiple tasks, delegate effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate willingness to work with a diverse student, staff, and community population.
• Possess excellent character and sound judgement in decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ongoing program development of fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of play.
• Assist with strength, conditioning, flexibility, mental health, and recovery programs.
• Assist with servant leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
• Regularly communicate with students, families, staff, athletic trainer, and athletic office.
• Enforce team policies fairly and consistently.
• Contribute to performance evaluations for the program and team members.
• Maintain records including attendance, statistics, inventory, and schedules.
• Schedule training sessions, practices, competitions, and transportation.
• Enforce school policies related to eligibility, safety, and transportation.
• Distribute, collect, and manage program inventory.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and condition of inventory and facilities.
• Attend awards nights and feeder/summer programs as applicable.
• Participate in staff training and professional development; support Head Coach.
