Job summary

New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District District Middle School in New Albany, Indiana is hiring an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach and Athletic Director. This position is part-time and focuses on coaching, practice supervision, and program development.

The ideal candidate has prior coaching experience, knowledge of NFHS/IHSSA rules, and strong organizational and communication skills to work with students, staff, coaches, and the community.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching/participating in sports at high school or college level preferred.
• Prior coaching experience desirable.
• Knowledge of NFHS, IHSSA, and/or other applicable rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of basic First Aid and Athletic Training practices.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches, and community while fostering a positive atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coaching athletes in mechanics and skills for competition.
• Coordinate and supervise practices.
• Promote sportsmanship and team unity; enforce guidelines.
• Support discipline of contest, school, conference and state rules.
• Provide opportunities for professional development.
• Oversee safety and accountability for students and facilities.
• Maintain records of uniforms, equipment, and statistics.
• Assist with forms and equipment purchases.
• Attend meetings and clinics; support boosters.
• Collaborate with Athletics Department, staff, athletes and parents on schedules.
• Help develop camps and drills for a K-12 program.
• Coordinate fundraising with Athletic Director.
• Transport athletes in district vehicles if needed; valid license.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
