Job summary

The City of Brookings is seeking a Part Time Community Service Officer to support parking enforcement, animal control, minor civil and traffic control duties for Brookings residents. The position will primarily be weekends and holidays but may require working various shifts and workdays including day and evening shifts. The role is non-exempt with a wage of $19–$22 per hour. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid SD Driver's License, with First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid SD driver’s license or ability to obtain within 45 days of appointment and an acceptable driving record
• First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of appointment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates staffing and activities for the Community Service Unit
• Inspects establishments, housing or animals for compliance with laws
• Assists law enforcement and with traffic control during events/closures
• Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all situations.
