Job summary

Wedington Animal Hospital in Fayetteville, AR seeks an Animal Caretaker to support daily patient care and boarding operations. You will feed, medicate, restrain when needed, and help with exams under supervision.

Pay starts at $13/hr with experience; benefits include vacation/sick time and other staff programs. This role requires physical stamina and a compassionate approach to animals and their families.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Ability to safely restrain animals during examinations.
• Knowledge of administering medications and recognizing abnormal conditions.

Responsibilities

• Care for hospitalized animals and those in boarding, including feeding and monitoring.
• Restock hospital supplies and assist with post-operative patients.
• Maintain accurate medication, food, appetite and behavior records; other duties as assigned.

Wedington Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive, twelve doctor general practice located in Fayetteville, AR. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients including Wellness Services, Preventative Care, Urgent Care, Emergency & Critical Care, General & Orthopedic Surgery,Internal/External Medicine, Digital Full Body and Dental X-Ray, Dedicated Dental Suite, Ultrasound, Full In-House Laboratory, In-House Pharmacy, Cold Therapy Laser, Medical and/or Vacation Boarding, Grooming & more.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

The Animal Caretakeris responsible for the care, feeding, medicating, and cleaning of our patients in the hospital and boarding facility. This job involves cleaning, laundry, bathing, feeding, walking dogs, and medicating patients. You are responsible for restocking hospital supplies, helping with post-operative patients, assisting doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams. You will be responsible for proper recordkeeping of medications, special foods, appetite, behavior and any issue that may arise while the animal is in our care. You may be trained to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

• Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Proper methods of animal restraint.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
• Abilityto sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
• Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
