Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer to protect and assist at a government healthcare location in Wytheville, VA. You will monitor areas, perform patrols, and maintain a visible security presence while delivering excellent customer service to patients and staff.

The role emphasizes flexible scheduling, safety, and adherence to site procedures. A background check and drug screen may be required where allowed by law, and licensing requirements vary by state.

Qualifications

• Experience with alarm panels is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security-related license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A background check will be conducted in accordance with laws.
• A drug screen may be required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state/local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures and site policies.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem-solving approach.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of hospital buildings, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity to deter unauthorized access and support an orderly care environment.
• Document incidents, observations, and communicate relevant information to site personnel and Allied Universal leadership.
