Job summary

Lake Forest Academy seeks a part-time driver to transport students to the train station on school day afternoons. The driver will operate either a 14-seater white bus or school minivan and work Monday through Friday, 2:30pm-6:30pm while school is in session.

The role requires interaction with children, a clean driving record, and knowledge of bus safety and traffic laws. This is a part-time hourly position with a pay range of $22–$25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must meet IL School Bus Permit eligibility.
• 21+ years old and clear driving record.
• Pass a skills test provided by the IL DOT.
• Experience working with children or in a customer service role.
• Clear understanding of bus safety and traffic laws.
• Professional demeanor and ethics are essential.
• Ability to present self in a highly professional manner to others.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and communicate with students and staff professionally.
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with coworkers and vendors.
• Proficiency with all relevant electronic and communication devices.
• Adapts procedures and tools to accomplish the job requirements.
• Knowledge of OSHA and local requirements related to all assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers to and from school
• Obey all traffic laws
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
• Ensure the safety of all passengers
• Assist passengers with getting on and off the bus as needed
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
• Report any mechanical issues to supervisor and mechanic
