Job summary

CSA District is seeking a Part Time Before/After School Child Care Staff to join our Elementary campus in Howell, MI. The role focuses on providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students in the before and after school program.

This position requires supervising children, facilitating activities, and supporting students' well-being while working with families and school staff to ensure a high-quality experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred in related field.
• Experience with school-age children in a child care, educational, recreational, or youth program setting is required.
• Strong understanding of child development and positive behavior management techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain if required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
• Ability to meet all applicable state, district, and school employment requirements, including successful background checks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the before and after school program, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce positive behavior guidelines.
• Assist students with homework and provide academic support as appropriate.
• Maintain attendance records and ensure students are released to authorized individuals.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding participation, behavior, and updates.
• Prepare, organize, and clean activity areas before and after program operations.
• Ensure program materials and supplies are maintained and used safely.
• Respond to illnesses, injuries, emergencies, and behavioral concerns per school policies.
• Collaborate with school staff and coordinators to support student success.
• Participate in staff meetings and required training.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA.
