California State University, Dominguez Hills invites applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments in the Department of Communications – Advertising/Public Relations Program. The program prepares students for ethical, culturally aware advertising and public relations practice, with opportunities to teach across courses and modalities.

Positions are filled as needed based on enrollment and funding.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
• Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
• A Master’s degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Strategic Communications or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
• Extensive professional experience in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline is preferred.
• A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Strategic Communications or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper‑division core courses (300‑ or 400‑level).
• Ability to teach face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
• Lecturer faculty in Advertising/Public Relations teach assigned upper and/or lower division courses in the major degree programs and in the department’s shared curriculum.
• Courses may include: Media and Society; Digital Toolkit; Advertising Strategy and Writing; Introduction to Public Relations; Public Relations Writing; Culture, Gender and Strategic Communications; and Integrated Communications Management.
• Temporary faculty must hold one office hour per week per class and should be able to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online delivery modalities.
