Job description

Compensation Range: Hourly: $60.00 - $65.00

National University’s School of Health Professions, in collaboration with the School of Education, invites applications for a uniquely rewarding Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) position within a long‑term, grant‑funded initiative serving elementary school communities across San Diego. This role is ideal for an FNP who values meaningful patient interaction, interdisciplinary teamwork, and community‑centered care. You will join a highly collaborative, close‑knit group of healthcare professionals who are passionate about equitable access, preventive care, and whole‑family wellbeing.

Position Highlights
  • Part‑time, flexible scheduling: Work two‑three days per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
  • Family‑centered clinical practice: Provide care not only to elementary school students, but also to their parents and siblings.
  • A rare opportunity to support holistic family health in a school‑based setting.
  • Low daily patient volume: Typically 5–8 patients per day (with the higher end occurring infrequently), allowing for 45‑minute visits and the ability to deliver thorough, relationship‑based care.
  • Integrated health education: When clinic volume is lower, engage with students in the classroom, teaching preventive care, mental health awareness, and the relationship between physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Community impact: Participate in one Saturday Community Health Fair per month on a rotating basis, as well as occasional after‑school community events.
  • Weekly hours flex accordingly—for example, working two 4‑hour days during the same week to accommodate Saturday or after‑school coverage.
  • Hybrid work potential: On‑site coverage from 8:00–8:45 a.m. start time through 3:00 p.m., with remaining hours available to be completed remotely.
  • Grant‑funded stability: Funding is secured through 2029, offering long‑term consistency within a mission‑driven program.
What Makes This Role Special

A supportive team environment with strong communication, shared resources, and a true commitment to community health. The ability to practice at a thoughtful pace, building real relationships with families. A balanced clinical and educational scope that enables you to influence health literacy from an early age.
