Job summary

William & Mary seeks adjunct professors for the Washington Center in Washington, DC, to teach in the DC Semester Program as an open pool. Roles include teaching assigned undergraduate courses, preparing syllabi, delivering instruction, and assessing student learning across sessions in fall and spring terms.

The position is a part-time, non-benefited appointment with possible evening/weekend hours and a strict workload cap. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with 18 graduate credits; Ph.D.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in the field of the proposed course.
  • Previous experience teaching at a US higher education institution.
  • Ph.D. or other terminal degree preferred; ABD status considered for appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned undergraduate courses.
  • Prepare syllabi and course materials in accordance with CAS and university policies.
  • Deliver instruction via modalities designated in the contract.
  • Provide structured assessments of student learning aligned with course objectives.
  • Hold office hours for students.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Washington Center staff regarding attendance and well-being.
