Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, MN, invites applications for an adjunct position in the English, Philosophy, Spanish and Humanities Department. The appointee will teach first- and second-year writing courses and may mentor College Now instructors, following department curricula and staying available to students outside class time.

Requirements include a master’s degree in English, Composition, or a related area (or 18+ graduate English credits).

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English, Composition, Rhetoric, or related area, or Master’s with 18+ graduate English credits.
• Ability to travel to Minnesota on-site visits and attend a summer workshop on SMSU campus.
• Experience teaching college-level English.
• Appreciation for liberal arts education.
• Ability to work with students, faculty, and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Teach first- and second-year writing courses for the English, Philosophy, Spanish and Humanities Department.
• Mentor concurrent enrollment instructors in College Now dual credit program, especially for Composition and Literature.
• Follow programmatic standards and common curriculum developed by the department.
• Be available to students outside of class time.
