Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has an outstanding opportunity for a Part Time Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider to join the Trauma team and work alongside some of the best medical providers in Philadelphia.
Located in the Pavilion for Advanced Care at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Penn's Level 1 Trauma Center serves as a vital gateway for traumatically injured patients, offering vast resources, the latest technology, and expertly trained staff. Having a Level 1 Trauma Center designation means we have every available resource needed to provide comprehensive care for severe injuries.
Trauma Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) provide geographic coverage on Cupp 4 East Trauma floor. The APP functions autonomously and collaborates with healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage patient health problems. They develop diagnostic decision-making skills for accurate assessment, appropriate intervention, diagnostic reasoning, and holistic care planning. This position involves 4–10 hour shifts per pay period, including every other weekend, and one summer and one winter holiday per year. As an APP on the Trauma team, you will work with six other APPs and ten surgeons.
Trauma APPs operate under guidelines established by Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and adhere to medical staff policies. The CRNP or PA-C hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be accountable through a formal job description, privileges delineation, and a collaborative practice agreement with a designated physician. All clinical hours and requirements are managed under the supervision of the collaborating physician and within HR guidelines.
The CRNP or PA-C, providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other team members, performs histories, physicals, procedures, and patient/family education following the nursing process. They may participate in research, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe medications following the collaborative agreement and state regulations.
