The Virginia State Corporation Commission seeks a part-time hourly Actuary to perform primary and peer reviews of long-term care rate filings and product filings. The role supports the Life and Health Insurance division with flexible telework options and an estimated workload around 20 hours weekly.

Starting hourly rate is $120–$140; the position emphasizes actuarial principles, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with the BOI team to provide guidance on emergent life, annuity and long-term

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• Must hold ASA designation (A.S.A.).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot data issues.
• Proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Office tools.
• Experience with SERFF for rate filing reviews preferred.

Responsabilités

• Review product and rate filings for compliance with state law and filing requirements.
• Collaborate with BOI Health Actuary and life/health staff to resolve actuarial questions.
• Prepare objection letters, filing documentation, and responses; assist with inquiries.
